Martvili

Oniore and Toba Falls

Description:

Martvili district is located in the limestone zone. And limestone is known to be rich in such forms of relief as canyons, deep gorges, waterfalls, hanging streams, caves, grottoes, siphons, etc.

One of the most brilliant pearls of this region is the Oniore Falls.
This tour is best to start from Kutaisi or its surroundings. However, we can include in the program of our multiday tours.

On the border of the regions of Racha, Imereti and Samegrelo is the limestone massif of Ashi. The surface waters of the Askhi karst plateau quickly seep deep into the cavernous limestone rocks and form a dense network of underground streams. Having passed under the ground some distance, the underground streams come out into the daylight in the form of spectacular waterfalls, the output of which opens right on the steep slope of a 300-meter cliff.

We go to the Martvili district to the upper reaches of the Abasha River. Gradually increase the load and make a hike to the high waterfalls of Toba and Oniore. These waterfalls actually represent one of the most significant sources of the Abasha River, of which it has many. There are several waterfalls called Toba. Toba 1, Toba 2 and so on to five.

At the base of the waterfall, from the constant beating of water, a deep limestone boiler filled with emerald water was formed.

Downstream there is another 20 meter waterfall, and even lower is the one to visit which will take 2.5 hours to wade along the riverbed.
Lunch in the field will be the logical conclusion of active rest.
This tour can be made a day, if we start with the city of Kutaisi or its surroundings. You can also include the tour in the program of our multi-day tours.
