Excursion to Kakheti: Bodbe, Signaghi, Kvareli
Description:
Depart from Tbilisi at 9.30 – 10.00, the one-way road takes about 1.5 hours. The first place we will go will be the monastery in Bodbe. Monastery and Episcopal complex of St. George, located in Kakheti, the town of Bodbe is a national Georgian shrine. Here in the Cathedral of St. George rest the remains of the Equal-to-the-Apostles Nino of Cappadocia – the great Baptist of Georgia – the harbinger of the Christian era.
2 km from Bodbe is the city of love Signahi, a small cozy town in eastern Georgia, located on the mountainside in the historical region of Kakheti. The city was founded in the XVII century under King Heraclius II and, as locals say, is the only city in Georgia that has completely preserved the fortress walls. The fortress wall is lined with watchtowers, which you can climb to view the magnificent views of the Alazan valley.
After Signaha, we will go to the city of Kvareli, where wineries are located. You will be given a tour around the plant, will tell about the production technology and at the end you will be able to taste several types of wines.
