David Gareji Monastery Complex
Description:
Direction to the region of Kakheti, the terrain of which is different from the rest of Georgia and is characterized by a semi-path. On the way, you can meet only solitary shepherds, guarding the only wealth of this region - herds of sheep.
The David-Gareji cave complex is located on the border with Azerbaijan. The monastery was founded in the 6th century and was the center of the cluster of famous schools of wall painting. Here you can admire the beautiful frescoes, considered unique, one of the few preserved in Georgia, as well as enjoy the fascinating landscapes around.
