Shatili - Anatori - Mitsu
Description:
Want to visit the mountainous expanses and authentic world of Georgia?
Then this tour is for you.
We will visit the fortress-city of Shatili, the crypt of Anatori and the Mitsu complex. A fascinating trip to the wilderness, where there are virtually no tourists and access is open only a few months a year.
The road lies through the beautiful Zhinvali reservoir, from where we deviate from the usual route and go to the world of Khevsureti. Partly the road is paved, but on the pass to a height of 3600 m above sea level in the flooding velvet meadows, only an SUV can pass. On the way we meet many waterfalls, wild rivers and finally reach the city of the 12th century Shatili, which was built as a defensive fortress and protected our land from the Dagestan invasions.
You will see how people lived in the Middle Ages, what kind of life was in the mountains, nature, culture, authenticity and of course you can taste local, but simple cuisine. After the nearby village of Anatori, which almost disappeared from the face of the earth, but left one unique history of this place. Also, the recently renovated Mitsu complex meets us on our way. You will feel a completely different culture, nature and life of our edges.
