Kashweti Church
Georgia, Tbilisi, Shota Rustavelli Street
Description:
There is an interesting church in old Tbilisi, looking at which you immediately think that this is an ancient building. And, indeed, the Kashveti church in Tbilisi looks like an old one, but no: the temple was created only a hundred years ago. The traditions of Georgian architecture were strictly observed during the construction of this temple. Customers wanted everything to look in Georgian style. Once on the site of this temple was an ancient church of the VI century.
The church of Kashveti facade is decorated with stone carvings. On the doors and side entrance are visible images of St. George. The interior of the temple amazes with its splendor! The ceiling is decorated in early Christian style. And also very here you can see the original “stone lace” – this is how an unusual stone carving looks.
You can get to the temple of Kashveti by visiting the center of Tbilisi.
