Kldekari Fortress

Georgia, Trialeti National Park, Trialeti Mountains

Description:

The ancient Georgian fortress of Kldekari is located in the Trialet Mountains. Once, ten centuries ago, Kldekari was a princely residence. Unfortunately, time has destroyed the fortress, now you can see only a few walls.

Presumably, the construction was carried out in the IX century. The fortress has a very favorable location. Once its owners had control over the only road passing here.
This fortress is located between the rocks and therefore it is very difficult to get into it. There are secrets here, for example, it is still unclear how the inhabitants were provided with water, because not a single reservoir was found nearby. It is believed that there were some forest sources.

Those who decide to visit the fortress should know that this trip should be planned for the whole day. The fortress can be reached from the north, through the Tezami Valley, starting from the Rkoni Monastery. This is the shortest way, but without a guide you can get lost. It is easier to get from the south: first the Tbilisi-Tsapka highway, which will lead you to the village of Imera, from Imira, you need to get to the village of Bareti (Bashkoy), from there to the village of Arjevan-Sarvani. The final point is the village of Cholman (Cholyan), about 3 km. You need to know that you should strictly adhere to the direction directly to the Kldekar summit. From Cholman there is already a narrow path to the fortress.
