Taras Shevchenko has more than a thousand monuments in his homeland in Ukraine. Marks of memory, erected in honor of the writer and activist, are located outside his native country. 2007 marked the installation of the monument to Taras Shevchenko in Tbilisi. At its base lay a capsule with land taken from the village of Morintsy, in Cherkasy region – the native village of Shevchenko.
The monument is designed in such a way that it seems to everyone who is at its foot that the poet looks at it with a heavy thoughtful look from top to bottom.
The monument is installed in the center of the Georgian capital. You can get to the historic landmark by bus numbers 9.21, 34, 51, 59, 61, 66, 85, 88 and 140.
