MARCHROUT DESCRIPTION

1. House-Museum of Alexander Chavchavadze in Tsinandali. Garsevan Chavchavadze was one of the organizers of the accession of Georgia to Russia, who signed the George Treatise. His son Alexander in 1805 was exiled to Tambov for participation in the anti-Russian uprising, then served in the Life Hussar regiment and participated in campaigns in Europe in 1812, 1813 and 1814, witnessed the capture of Paris. Returning to Kakheia, he began a private project to Europeanize Georgia. He built a manor with European interiors in Tsinandali, built the first winery, which marked the beginning of industrial winemaking. There began to produce wines using European technology, for example, the now known "Tsinandali". Pushkin and Griboyedov came here. There is a version that the first production of the comedy “Woe from Wit” took place here: possibly amateur and incomplete.

2. The fortress of Gremi is all that remains of the eponymous large trading city of the Great Silk Road, the capital of the Kakheti kingdom. This is the church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel, the bell tower near the temple, the building of the palace and the cellar for storing wine. Well, the city of Gremi is a whole era, which is associated with the ancient Georgian kingdom called Kakheti.

3. Nekrisi Monastery is another ancient shrine. The oldest structure of the complex is a small church, dated (IV century). Once there were fierce clashes with Muslim invaders and simply robbers, urban life was in full swing in the valley. The monastery repeatedly suffered from invasions of various kinds. It is said that during one such invasion, the monks placed a herd of pigs in the monastery (or overlaid the monastery with carcasses?), and the Muslims hesitated to go there. Therefore, in the monastery there is a tradition for holidays to make kebabs only from pork Now the peace of the monastery is violated only by rare visitors, and the city is completely destroyed. In Georgia, almost any temple is an observation deck. Nekresi is no exception. The monastery benches are the perfect place to sit in silence and restore the nervous system.

4. KVARELI - The end point of our excursion will be a visit to the winery with wine tasting in the city of Kvareli. It is tourists who can regard Kvareli as a place where you can stop and relax during long excursions to the Kakheti region.
