Ikalto Monastery

Ikalto Monastery is not far from Telavi, or rather 10 km from it. On the territory of the monastery there are 3 churches, in the center of the Church of the Holy Spirit. This monastery was founded in the 6th century by Zenon of Ikaltoy. There are walls around it. Inside you can find the ruins of old wineries, because grapes are actively growing in this region. For many years the monastery of Ikalto was in an abandoned state and only in the 19th century finally underwent reconstruction. There is a car park nearby, which is certainly convenient for tourists, because public transport does not go to the monastery. Entrance is free. Akdemia was once here, but not much remains.
