Indira Gandhi International Airport

Description:

Indira Gandhi International Airport is a famous airport in India, which is located in the city of Delhi. The airport is the busiest airport in India in terms of landings, as well as the first airport in terms of passenger traffic in the country. The airport, formerly known as Palam Airport, was built during World War II and was a base for the Indian Air Force. In September 2008, the airport opened a runway 4.43 kilometers long, one of the longest in Asia.

By the time the 2010 Commonwealth Games were held, the airport had built a large, spacious and functional international terminal. In its design, modern design was successfully combined with national motifs. The walls are decorated with paintings with scenes of Indian life, images of Buddha. The floors are covered with carpets, with a national Indian ornament. There are no carpets in the Duty Free zone, but there are beautiful futuristic lamps on the ceilings.

There are a lot of seats in the new airport, and mirrored floors and ceilings with illumination visually expand the space even more. One of the spacious halls is decorated with an impressive Buddha sculpture. In the new terminal of Indira Gandhi International Airport everything is made for people – there is even a room for prayers. Well, for tourists and travelers, Indira Gandhi International Airport is the first place to explore India.
