Rumtek Monastery
Indy, Sikkim, twenty-four kilometers west of Gangtok.
Description:
You can go very far in search of Zen. For example, the largest monastery in the state of Sikkim – Rumtek, or Dharmachakra Center. Built three centuries ago, this monastery still carries the ideas of Karma Kagyu in the name of enlightenment.
The inner beauty and balance of the soul of the monks are in harmony with the elegance and majesty of the buildings of the monastery. The architecture, traditional for Indian buildings, amazes with its beauty. No less beautiful and landscapes that can be enjoyed from the complex.
No one will prevent you from observing the life of those who know firsthand what Nirvana is. Perhaps some of the tourists would like to convert to Buddhism? Specially for this, the monastery has the Karma Institute of Sri Nalanda.
Unfortunately, now the monastery is in a strange situation - two parties of different Karmaps can not decide who owns it by right, but this does not reduce the desire of tourists to visit Rumtek.
