Fort Chapore

India, Goa, Vagator

Description:

Fort Chapora is a fortress in North Goa that is about 500 years old. The fortress was built on the ruins of an Indian fortress in the 17th century by the Portuguese. The fortress was of great military importance. The structure repeats the natural shape and height of the slope. The main feature of the fortress is a narrow and deep gate. The fortress received its name due to the river at the mouth of which it is located. Today, people climb here to enjoy the superb views of the Indian Ocean, river and coast. You can climb to the fortress along the rocky paths leading from the Vagator beach. This place is associated with a wonderful tradition to meet here on the last evening of your stay in Goa sunset. They say that it charges positive energy for a long time.
