Kochigao Reserve
Goa, India, Kanyakumari - Panavel Rd, Canacona, Goa
Description:
Kotigao - the second largest reserve of Goa and the most accessible by location - it is located in South Goa, in Canacona County, just 12 kilometers from Palolem. The territory of the reserve stretches for 86 square kilometers along the picturesque banks of the Talpona River.
River streams passing through the park plentifully moisten the soil, so the vegetation here is lush and dense to the extent that not always the sun can break through the canopy of trees. Cotigao is recommended for those who want to see the multi-tiered jungle and rare plants.
You can walk along eight well-kept trails with a length of 500 to 5000 meters. The reserve has two forest observation towers, which are located 6 and 9 kilometers from the entrance. On one of the trees there is a small house, where you can get on a very steep staircase 20 meters high. The view of the watering hole opens from here, and this is one of the opportunities to see wild animals in natural conditions. Of course, there are no tigers and leopards here for a long time, but there is a possibility to see bison, bears, gazelles, panthers, porcupines, hyenas, which, you will agree, is also very interesting. The reserve is home to bright tropical birds and many insects.
