Sculpture of Shiva's face on Vagatore

Vagator Beach Rd, Vagator, Goa, India

Description:

The sculpture of the face of Shiva on Vagatore is the pride of the city of Vatagoras, which is the face of Shiva carved from stone on a rock near the sea with a necklace of skulls, and with his faithful companion - a cobra. The necklace symbolizes the victory over the flesh and all material things, and the cobra is the personification of eternity and immortality of God.

The sculpture of Shiva’s face is located on Vagator Beach, one of the northernmost beaches of Goa, in the northwest of the village of Vagator. This masterpiece was carved on a stone rock by the Italian architect Antonio Caroli, who in the 70s of the XX century reached Goa on foot and created this unique attraction here.

The stone face of Shiva is an interesting place not only for followers of Hinduism, but also for many tourists in Goa who like to be photographed against the background of Vagator Beach and this unique sculpture.
