The ashram was founded in 1964 by Navajotisri Karunakara, an educator who called for living in harmony with God and nature. The main purpose of this ashram is to unite people under a comprehensive spiritual ideology. The philosophy is to give free food, spiritual knowledge and holistic healing to the masses. For this purpose, the ashram is organized food centers for visitors and even prisoners. The function of healing the ashram is performed by a network of Ayurvedic centers, hospitals. It is also used as a training center, for worship and assimilation of the teachings of the guru.
