Description:
The colorful marble temple of Jane in Ranakpur is built in honor of Adinath. It, with its characteristic domes and turrets, rises majestically on the hillside. 1444 marble columns support the temple. They are carved in the smallest detail. The building is decorated with various statues, the most notable of which is a statue of 108 heads of snakes with tails that can not find the ends of the tails. On the domes, artistic carved nymphs play flutes and dance in various poses.
The beginning of the construction of the temple dates back to the XV century. The architect of the building is Deepaka. There is an inscription on a pillar next to the main shrine that says that in 1439 the architect built a temple dedicated to Jane. There are about 30 rooms in the temple. In the assembly hall there are two large bells weighing 108 kilograms.
The Jane Temple in the village of Ranakpur is considered one of the five most important Jain pilgrimage sites.
