Wadi Araba Valley

150 kilometers south of Jerash

Description:

Wadi al-Arab or simply Araba is a valley in Wadi Rum, the driest and most extensive desert in Jordan. This is where Moses led his people forty years.

Today, this amazing place attracts tourists who appreciate the untouched natural expanses and independent travel in quite extreme conditions.

Today, the most common way to experience Wadi Araba Valley is a jeep safari. The journey can last several hours and several days, depending on how you feel about sleeping in the open air in the nomadic Bedouin camp.

From locals you can buy a traditional souvenir - a red handkerchief, which is not just a nice thing, but also the most necessary accessory in the desert for protection from sand and wind. The Bedouins say that if you walk along Wadi Rum for several hours in a row, you can forget the name of your mother - so much affects the silence and deserted, almost alien landscapes on the consciousness accustomed to civilization and the city.
