Salem Castle

Rosscarbery, County Cork, Ireland

Description:

Salem Castle is the family home of the Morris clan.

The castle was built in 1660 and belonged to the Morris family until 1800. In 1895, the castle was bought by the Dali family, whose descendants have now established a guest house here.

Salem Castle was built in the usual style of Norman fortresses - with a jagged roof, loophole windows and thick massive walls. The castle building is rectangular, with a small extension on the northeast side.

Inside is a high stone staircase. In the main hall there are three high arches.

The fortress is surrounded by a shady garden with small artificial ponds.
