Ballygrennan Castle

Breff, County Limerick, Munster Province, Ireland

Description:

Ballygrennan Castle is a massive fortress with quadrangular towers.

The condition of the castle is quite deplorable - it is almost destroyed, only half of the structure, some vaulted windows and part of the spiral staircase that once leads to the roof have been preserved.

The castle has four floors and two protruding towers at opposite corners. Also, two pipes rise above the roof of the castle, the purpose of which is not fully clarified.

The building of the castle occupies an area of about 35.000 square meters, the time of its construction dates back approximately to the XV century.
