Valentine's Day (All Lovers' Day)

Description:

This holiday, as elsewhere in the world, is related to the romance of love.
In Iceland, this holiday, of course, is not complete without bonfires, and is dedicated to the son of Odin - Vali (Wili in another transcription). In fact, he was not a simple child, and not only because of his divine origin, he was called a “one-day child”: being one day old, he avenged a certain Head for the murder of Baldr.

However, this holiday, as elsewhere in the world, has to do with the romance of love. In Iceland, there is a funny custom: girls on this day hang heads around the necks of boys, and they in return try to hang stones on the necks of girls.

The meaning of this ritual is easier to understand, considering that to light a fire on Vali Day, it is necessary to carve a spark with a stone hitting a stone.
