Ejafjordur - "Island Fjord"

Description:

Northern Iceland, fjord Eyjafjordur / Ejafjordur - "Island Fjord", got its name from the island of Hrisey at the mouth of the fjord. Eyjafjordur is located just forty kilometers from the Arctic Circle, the length of the fjord is 65 kilometers. The fjord is surrounded by high mountains, formed over a million years ago as a result of glacier descent and is considered the most fertile in Iceland. The first Viking to settle in 892 was Helgi Tosshi. Photo in the fjord taken during one of the regular overnight stays in the panoramic tour "Around Iceland"
