Phallus Museum

Hedinsbraut 3a, 640 H sav k, Iceland

About the company:

The Icelandic Phallus Museum is probably the only museum in the world with an extensive collection of phallus specimens. The museum exhibits belong to all mammal species that have been discovered in Iceland. The number of penises and their parts on display is 204!

The founder of the museum, Sigurdur Hjartarson, a former teacher of Spanish and history, has been collecting phalluses of all stripes since 1974. For his exposition, he preserved almost two hundred genitalia of animals with his own hands. And it all began with a whip made of dried bull penis, which he once as a souvenir from the Icelandic peninsula Sneifeldsnes brought a friend. Then, after a while. His friend from the whaling station began to bring in the penises of marine mammals, and gradually the idea of opening a so-called "phallology" museum was born.

The collection is numerous and surprising with its diversity. Among the exhibits of the museum there are even salted phalluses of horses, considered in the old days a real delicacy, not to mention the genitals of male hamsters, mice, rats, guinea pigs, seals and polar bears. There are also amazing exhibits - in a separate section dedicated to Icelandic folklore, you can look at the supposedly something representing the penis of water caught in the 18th century. The museum also houses the genitals of an Icelandic elf and a mysterious “Christmas boy” considered a distant relative of Santa Claus.
