Thorsmerk Valley

Torserk Valley is located in the south of Iceland

Description:

Thormörk Valley translates from Icelandic as "Forests of Thor" and these forests are fabulously beautiful! Tormörk is one of the beautiful gems of the northern nature of Iceland.

Surrounded on all sides by high mountains and glaciers, narrow gorges and fast mountain rivers, decorated with low birch forest and permeated with slow silver streams, the Tosmerk valley like a magnet attracts tourists, and not only them. Icelanders often come here to get in touch with the wild but unique nature of the north.

Tourists can also visit the Stackholt Gorge - a unique creation of nature, a mountain fault 2 kilometers long. The winding path runs along a steep slope overgrown with moss and ends at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. Gradually, the gorge narrows, at the very end of it is hidden a beautiful waterfall.

And from Mount Valakhnyukur, whose height is 456 meters above sea level, offers a magnificent, breathtaking view of the surrounding area.

By the way, travelers should remember that there is no bridge in the valley, and small streams instantly, especially in summer, turn into powerful mountain streams that can not be overcome by ordinary cars. Therefore, you need to come here in a specially equipped jeep.
