Ice Lagoon of Joculsaurlow

the Jokülsaurloun Glacier Valley is located in southeastern Iceland, between Skaftafell National Park and Höfnem

Description:

Jokulsaurloun is the largest glacier lagoon in Iceland. From the Vakhtnajokutl glacier, icebergs of white, blue and black (from volcanic ash) colors constantly break off, forming a lake. This beautiful painting is called the “Ghost Procession of Glowing Icebergs along Jokulsaurlown”.

In addition, due to the constant melting of the glaciers of Jokulsaurloun every year becomes deeper, now the depth of the lake is 284 meters. The lagoon is the lowest point in Iceland, 200 meters below sea level.

From the shore of Jokulsaurloun you can see the Ice Cap – a vast ice dome with a height of 910 meters.

And sitting on the ship, you can admire the flora of the area. Basically, these are seals that feed on fish that swim here from the sea. Also frequent guests in the lagoon are polar terns and various sea terns, the latter, by the way, are called “pirates of the seas” for their aggressive disposition.
