Description:

Skougafoss Waterfall is located in the south of Iceland, near the village of Skougar. It is located on the Skougau River, just below the Eyjafjallajökull glacier.

The beautiful Skougafoss waterfall is one of the most famous and visited in Iceland. The width of the waterfall is 25 meters, the height of the fall of the water is 60 meters. According to legend, Trasi Touroulfsson, the first Viking to settle in these places, hid his treasures in a cave located in a cliff behind the waterfall. Many years later, a local boy found an unusual chest in this cave. The boy only managed to get hold of the gold ring, and the rest of the gold disappeared. Now this ring is kept in the Scowgar Museum.
