Architecture of Gaudi
Description:
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, many talented, original architects worked in Barcelona, but the most unusual of all was of course Antonio Gaudí. Misunderstood and misunderstood in his era, forgotten and criticized later, Gaudí is now, along with Dali, perhaps the most revered genius of Catalonia.
This tour allows you to get acquainted with the most famous buildings of Antonio Gaudí, with his personal life. You will also learn interesting details about the period of "modernism", during which the architect worked, and about its importance for the political and cultural life of Catalonia.
We will meet on the most beautiful street in Barcelona in the famous Quarter of Razruz near the quaint House of Batllo. After the first acquaintance with the work of the architect, we will go to the most unusual building in Barcelona - the House of Mila (La Pedrera). It was Gaudí’s last civilian building and one of his biggest disappointments, although it is now admired by all Barcelona tourists.
Then we will take the metro to the grandiose, currently under construction Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia (Basilica de Sagrada Familia), which will spend about 2 hours. You will learn what the symbols on the facades mean, get acquainted with the most important architectural details that make this building unique, and you will be able to appreciate the power of the Catalan genius. This building is also the last resting place of Antonio Gaudí, who is buried under the altar of the basilica.
Then we will take a taxi (at your expense) to Park Güell, where, according to UNESCO, Gaudí’s fantasy unfolded most fully. You will learn some of the secrets of the park, see the Gaudí House-Museum (visit at will), walk under an amazing stone wave, you can visit one of the "gingerbread houses" and of course take a picture with the most famous dragon of Barcelona. Price of tickets 7 euros
After a walk in the park you will visit the center of Gaudí, where you will get acquainted with other works of the architect and see a fascinating film 4D (cost 9 euros), telling about the connection of Gaudí architecture with the legends and nature of Catalonia. This center is interesting for both adults and children.
