Grand Royal Palace of Barcelona

Spain, Barcelona, Pla a del Rei

Description:

The Grand Royal Palace is a historic building built in the XIII century as the residence of the Counts of Barcelona. In XIII-XIV it was expanded. The Throne Room of Tinel was attached to it. Here were held meetings of the Holy Tribunal of the Inquisition, and it was in the walls of this magnificent hall that Christopher Columbus told about his great discovery.

The architecture of the palace complex combines Romanesque, Gothic and West Gothic styles. The palace complex also includes the chapel of St. Agatha of the XV century. From the altar of the chapel you can climb to the watchtower of 1555. The palace is open to visitors all year round.
