Canaletes Fountain

La Rambla, 127, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

Description:

It is a tradition that everyone who arrives in Barcelona for the first time has to take a walk on the beautiful Boulevard La Rambla. And to start your walk is best from the cute fountain Canaletes, a landmark for the citizens of the place.

The fountain is located at the top of the boulevard, next to Plaza Catalunya. It is impossible to pass by it - with its shape it resembles a samovar, only it has not one faucet, but as many as four, and all of them are gilded, and beautiful drinking water flows from each. Above each crane is the coat of arms of Catalonia. The massive cast-iron base of the fountain unexpectedly ends with an elegant lantern with four matte plafonds of classical shape.

The fountain is popular among fans of “Barcelona” – here in the 30s of the XX century was the editorial office of the newspaper “La Rambla”, where the results of the last games of the favorite team were hung on the board. Needless to say, what fun was happening around the days of victory.

Legend has it that anyone who drinks water from the Canaletes Fountain will return to Barcelona. When a guide tells another group of tourists about this, many laugh and pretend that they do not really believe. But the water is still drunk - Barcelona is captured once and for all.
