Carretera de Montju & #239 c, 66, 08038, Barcelona, Spain
Description:
For centuries, Montjuic fortress, located at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, was a symbol of Barcelona and continues to be so. At the beginning of the medieval history of Barcelona on the mountain was the castle of Catalan counts. In 1640, the Catalans founded a fortress here, in those years there was the so-called War of the Reapers.
Now on Mount Montjuïc there is the most important museum center in Catalonia - the fortress houses the Military Museum, in the exposition of which there are samples of weapons and military uniforms of different eras and regions of the country. In addition, the museum exhibits models of Catalan castles, documents and objects related to the history of the fortress.
At the foot of the fortress there is an observation deck "Mirador del Alcalde", which offers a stunning view of Barcelona and its port.
