Cathedral of Barcelona
Pla a de la Seu, 08002 Barcelona, Spain
Description:
Barcelona Cathedral is a magnificent example of Catalan Gothic architecture. From almost anywhere in the Gothic quarter, its spires are visible. Traditionally, religious buildings were located on the hill - the cathedral was preceded by a Roman temple, as well as a mosque.
The construction of the Gothic cathedral in Barcelona began at the end of the XIII century, during the reign of King Jaime II. Construction work was completed only in the middle of the XV century, and the western facade some researchers date the XIX century.
Decorative design of the nave is made in Gothic style. In the courtyard there is a covered arcade, the inspection of which leads visitors to delight. Here grow orange trees and palm trees, a fountain and a pond overgrown with moss, which became home to a flock of white geese.
