Orth's park labyrinth
Horta-Guinard & oacute district in Barcelona, Spain
Description:
The Maze Park of Orta is one of the most beautiful and oldest parks in Barcelona. The park is located in the former estate of the Dessvals family, on the slope of the Collserola mountain range.
The history of the Orth Labyrinth Park dates back to the eighteenth century. It was then that the Marquis Joan Antoni Desvalls decided to equip a huge garden in the neoclassical style in his estate. The park he created was a great success - at the end of the nineteenth century in the estate of the Desswals began to hold solemn receptions and theater performances in the open air. Soon the garden finally became a public domain, and in the twentieth century opened to tourists.
The total area of the park is 9 hectares. It consists of two areas – a neoclassical garden and a romantic garden. The main attraction of the neoclassical garden is a labyrinth formed by a hedge. Also in the garden there are bridges, arbors for romantic meetings, magnificent waterfalls and flower beds are designed.
Today, the Maze Park of Orta is one of the most beautiful places in Barcelona and a popular resting place for local residents. This amazingly picturesque place enjoys the deserved attention of tourists.
