Barcelona

Seaport

08039 Barcelona, Spain

Description:

Barcelona’s seaport is the commercial gateway of Catalonia, one of the largest in Europe, where 1,700 ships can enter simultaneously. The sea facade of the city was completely renovated in preparation for the 1992 Olympics.

The best view of the port of Barcelona is from Montjuïc. Only from here, from a height, you can assess the true scale of its sea area, berths and cargo terminals. For tourists, the Old Port is especially interesting. From the famous statue of Columbus to it leads a pontoon pedestrian bridge, which overlooks the embankment and the shopping and entertainment center "Maremagnum". On the left is the marina: they stand close to each other, sharp-nosed, elegant, masterpieces of shipbuilding art. The magnificent Barcelona Aquarium is a unique structure with a beautiful collection of marine life. What an impressive terminal for mooring cruise ships! Huge ships, more like floating cities, bring almost 2 million tourists from all over the world to Barcelona every year.

The cargo port occupies almost 25 square kilometers of coast – from a height its territory looks like a giant designer, consisting of colored cubes of sea containers. Despite the clearly industrial landscape of its surroundings, it became an organic part of Barcelona, which also brings considerable income to the city and Catalonia as a whole.
