Monument to the Spanish Civil War

Barcelona, Spain

Description:

One of Barcelona’s many attractions is the Comic Theatre, which opened in 1905. Its building, built in the Empire style, impresses with its grandeur and luxury. To its left is a monument to the Spanish Civil War, which took place here from 1936 to 1939. It was inaugurated on June 25, 1985 and is a bronze stele made in the form of a twisting ribbon. It is engraved with various episodes of military operations, aircraft, tanks, faces of commanders-in-chief, as well as fragments from the life of ordinary families.

The stele was made under the guidance of the director of the Comic Theatre at the expense of local authorities and residents of the city. The monument to the Spanish Civil War was performed for 5 years, it has been restored twice in its history and currently delights Barcelona tourists. Every year, on April 1, the day of the end of the civil conflict, citizens gather here to honor the memory of the brave soldiers who died in the war. Not far from the stele there is a cozy square in which you can relax after visiting the sights.
