Paseo de Grazia Avenue
Passeig de Gr cia, 08008 Barcelona, Spain
Description:
One of the highlights of Barcelona is Paseo de Gracia Avenue. It passes on the site of an old road that ran in the direction of the nearby town of Gracia, which gave the road its name. Walking through it, you will find something to see, besides numerous boutiques.
Since 1890, representatives of the bourgeois strata of Catalonia began active construction on the Boulevard Paseo de Gracia. As a result, it began to overgrown with magnificent buildings that formed a magnificent architectural ensemble in the Art Nouveau style in the city. A special flavor is given by the lanterns with benches framing the avenue, made according to the sketches of Per Falkes.
At the beginning of the boulevard there is the house of Pascual y Pons by the architect Enric Sagnier, the house of Rocamor by the Bassegode brothers, as well as the Marcet Palace by the project of Tiberi Sabater. If you move on, you can go to the “Disagreement Quarter”, which got its name because of the stylistic heterogeneity of the buildings that form it, among which there is even the work of the great Gaudí. One of the most picturesque is the house of Lieo Morera, characterized by an abundance of plant ornaments.
