Sculpture "Woman and Bird"

Barcelona, Spain

Description:

The sculpture "Woman and Bird" is a twenty-two-meter statue created by the author Joan Miro in 1938. The statue is located in the Joan Miró Park in Barcelona. Co-author of the architect - Joan Gardi Artigas covered the statue with fragments of multi-colored tiles, which gave the statue an individuality. Its official opening took place in 1982. It was one of the last works of João Miro, who welcomed the guests of Barcelona.

The famous author was unable to attend the grand opening due to a severe and prolonged illness, as a result of which he died shortly before the opening of the sculpture. The statue has a rather unusual shape in the form of a phallus. At the top of it is a head in which a hole is made. The sculpture is decorated very abstractly, since the blackishness, laid out with tiles, invariably symbolizes the vulva. Such an unusual sculpture attracts a huge number of people.
