Museum at Pedralbes Monastery
Baixada del Monestir, 9, Barcelona, Spain
About the company:
The Pedralbes Museum is located in a delightful monastery of the same name of the beginning of the XIV century. The consecration of the complex took place on May 3, 1327.
The monastery was founded by King Jaime II the Just and is a magnificent example of medieval Gothic style. Almost the entire territory of the monastery complex is a museum, but the cells are home to 19 nuns from the Order of St. Clara.
The full name of the monastery is the Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de Pedralbes, which illustrates its original role and explains the pomp and luxurious decoration of the complex.
Be sure to visit the museum art gallery, where there are about a hundred works of art by masters of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In the courtyard of the luxurious three-storey monastery, you can admire the picturesque garden and a magnificent fountain in the Renaissance style.
