Pamplona is the city of Hemingway.

Description:

In the fertile valley of the Arga River, surrounded by mountains, is Pamplona, the capital of the Navarian Kingdom, a city with an ancient history and traditions.

During the walking tour, we will visit the most emblematic places of Pamplona, such as the path of the bull race for the San Fermin holiday, the Way of Santiago and other attractions of Pamplona. On the descent of Santo Domingo, where passions boil during the bull race for the festival of San Fermin, there are some of the oldest and most interesting buildings in the city, among which stands out the Renaissance Palace, hiding behind its magnificently decorated facade the rich collection of the Museum of the History of Pamplona. From the bull pen on the Santo Domingo descent, we will walk to the famous City Hall Square, with the Baroque City Hall, where the fiesta begins. Near the City Square is one of the oldest temples of Pamplona - in honor of San Saturnino, built in the 13th century. In the appearance of its tall and slender towers, defense functions are still guessed. On the way from Mercaderes Street to the bullfighting arena, you will learn about the history and traditions of the San Fermin holiday, which made the Navarre capital famous all over the world.

You will be able to feel like a medieval pilgrim, passing along the section of the sacred Way of Santiago, which since ancient times runs through Pamplona and brought her prosperity and wealth. During the walk you will enjoy the beautiful palaces, churches and pilgrim shelters that still open their doors to adventurers and the meaning of life. Continuing our journey, you will see the thick walls of the impregnable fortress of Navarre, one of the best preserved in the whole north of Spain. Due to the proximity of the border with France, the fortress of Pamplona was one of the strongest and played an important role in the defense of the Spanish crown. You should definitely stop at the majestic Cathedral of Pamplona, where the mausoleum of the 15th century King Carlos 3rd and his wife rests, to explore all his masterpieces and understand the importance of this city in the history of Navarre and all of Spain.

We will complete our acquaintance with the city on Castle Square, where you can visit the favorite cafe of Ernest Hemingway, who immortalized the city and its fiesta in his literary masterpiece. The most solemn building on the square, the Palace of Navarre, now houses the Government of the Province of Navarre. In the numerous bars and cafes of this square, where the atmosphere of serene joy reigns, you can taste traditional Navarre pinchos - small exquisite snacks, combined with fragrant Navarre wine.
