Bilbao Airport
Description:
The airport in Bilbao is an amazing creation of the architect Santiago Calatrava, convincingly proving that a building that performs purely technical functions can be beautiful.
The modern airport terminal was built in 2000. The project on which it was built was called “La Paloma”, which means dove. The snow-white building is built in the form of a small main body resembling the body of a bird with a sharp beak, and two lateral branches in the form of wings. Above the luggage compartment there are glazed galleries, from where guests can watch the landing of the aircraft and see passengers before leaving the arrival terminal.
Large, bright halls, a maximum of free space, a minimum of retail space, sculptures in the halls - not quite the usual image of the terminal. Friendly staff, the absence of unnecessary fuss, terminals within walking distance - this is the main advantage of Bilbao Airport.
At the same time, all the necessary moments for passengers are taken into account: parking (short-term and long-term), bank branch, ATMs, restaurants and cafeterias, VIP-hall, car rental point, call and taxi parking. There is a reference service for tourists.
Bilbao airport is connected by bus service BizkaiBus. The city center is only 15-20 minutes away. The message is carried out only in the daytime.
