Province of Granada

Excursion to Granada, visit to the Alhambra

Description:

The tour will begin with a tour of the old city, here you will see the Cathedral, the tomb of Catholic monarchs. The tour will continue with a walk through the oldest quarter of Granada – Albaisin. This white quarter with its winding streets and narrow staircases is located on the hill of the same name opposite the Alhambra. Now Albaysin is under the protection of the Ministry for the protection of monuments
The 2nd part will begin with a visit to the most famous monument of Arab architecture - the Alhambra palace complex. Translated from Arabic, its name means “red stone”. Perhaps this is due to the color of the bricks from which the wall of the palace is laid. But there is also a legend that the construction of the complex was carried out under the light of torches, whose lights gave the walls a reddish hue.
No other architectural structure in southern Spain can match this exquisitely luxurious royal residence. The Alhambra is not just a palace, it is a city towering over old Granada, the ancient capital of emirs and sultans.
