Many tourists ignore Cadiz, which can be considered one of the underrated pearls of Andalusia. Cadiz is located on a lime rock that extends into the sea. The narrow peninsula stretches for 9 km and is connected to the mainland by a bridge. The city is protected from ocean waves around the perimeter by 15-meter walls. The complex of the old town in Cadiz is designed in traditional white tops for Andalusia. Narrow streets are interspersed with quite extensive squares, where most of the attractions are concentrated.

Let’s start with the Cathedral (Catedral de Cadiz; Plaza Catedral) – a white wonder with golden domes, slightly similar to a mosque. The cathedral was built from 1720 to 1838 and is a mixture of Baroque and Neoclassical. Behind the cathedral you can see the pitiful remains of the Roman theater and the arch of the Rose (El Arco de la Rosa) – part of the former walls of the XIII century, built only by the Castilians who conquered Andalusia.

In addition to the cathedral, there are several interesting places in Cadiz. This is the Plaza San Juan de Dios, where you can find the city hall in the neoclassical style of the XIX century and pleasant cafes. The Oratorio de la Santa Cueva (Calle Rosario 10A) is a 1780 church consisting of the Lower and Upper Chapels.
The Tavira Tower (c/ Marques del Real Tesoro 10) is one of the many towers built in the XVIII century in the Baroque style by rich merchants to view ships that arrived in the city from distant sea voyages. Inside is the so-called “camera obscura”, representing the panorama of Cadiz from above through a magnifying glass.
Many beaches attract lovers to relax and relax in sunbathing.
