Sightseeing tour of one continent
Description:
- Well, you and I have a whole day ahead of us, and I suggest that we explore the entire continent without leaving any corners unattended.
- Wait a minute, we're kind of on an island, and this is a continent?
From now on, a little more detail. “Continent in miniature”, so often called the island of Gran Canaria, it is painfully diverse nature, landscape and climate of the third largest island of the Canary archipelago. There is everything a man can imagine when he says continent. Forests, of course, want coniferous, consisting of a completely fabulous tree - Canary pine or, if you wish, deciduous eucalyptus groves, in which your lungs for each breath will lift you to the sky. Mountains are a must! Just a stone’s throw from Pico de las Niebes, which is the highest point of the island, is a unique creation of nature, the basalt rock of Roque Nublo, which also serves as a symbol of the island. If there are mountains, there must be valleys. And of course they are here! For example, in one of them, which is called Barranco de Guayadeque, there is a village in which not only houses, but also all the infrastructure - shops, cafes, restaurants and even a village church are in caves. The water in Gran Canaria, unlike, for example, Tenerife, is also perfectly fine! There are 13 reservoirs, the largest of which - Soria has an area of 32.5 km. There's a desert here, too. The magnificent dunes of Maspalomas, as a branch of the Sahara, move in the same known order at the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean. How do you feel about the 216-meter depth? O. Bender did not know about the existence of this beauty. This failure is nothing more than the Bandam caldera - a huge crater, which was formed as a result of the collapse of part of the volcano about 5 thousand years ago. What else? The largest city in the Canary archipelago, with more than 500 years of history, inextricably linked with names such as Christopher Columbus and with the largest European port in terms of trade, located outside the Eurozone. And yet, “requiem chords in the Gothic style” – the mystical church of San Juan, the brightest and largest Gothic cathedral not only in the Canary archipelago, but also in the entire Atlantic. And, of course, many kilometers of beaches with unusually comfortable golden sand. So why not the content?
