Hiking down the Mask Gorge
Description:
Russian excursions to Tenerife in the Mask Gorge traditionally start from the west coast of the island, the sights of which are the mountain serpentine and the village of Santiago del Teide, which saw the last volcanic eruption in 1909. Next, we head to one of the most charming and striking places – the Mask Gorge. This part of the island of Tenerife is hidden from the eyes of travelers by the veil of the Teno Mountains. In the gorge there is a very lively fauna and a variety of vegetation. At the same time, the descent by car to the village of Mask is continuous adrenaline, because of deep ravines, closed turns and narrow roads, on which two cars can hardly miss, tourists nicknamed this section of the road “6 km of fear”.
But no fear will stop a true traveler, especially if in front of him there are amazing landscapes, passes and mountain rivers, giant fragments of rocks hanging on the ledges, all this we will see during a 4-hour descent along the gorge. The local landscapes resemble the landscapes of the impressive Hollywood film Avatar. And at the end of this challenging and complete adventure, as a kind of reward, you will find a wonderful beach where you can swim and relax, as well as a small sea trip (it is possible that we will meet dolphins and cetaceans) in a water taxi to Los Gigantes, where we previously left our car.
Duration is a whole day.
