The Pyramids of Guimar and the Dark-Faced Virgin
Description:
Conducting individual excursions in Tenerife, we will head with you along the southern coast of the island to its capital - Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In addition to all the wonderful places that you have already seen or are yet to see, another advantage of Tenerife and a must-see place are the pyramids of Guimar, which were built by ancient settlers. The local pyramids, like their overseas “sisters”, are strictly oriented according to astronomical indicators, and the stones that served as the material for their construction were extracted from the flow of volcanic lava.
Thanks to the support of the FERCO Foundation, which was founded by the Norwegian philanthropist Thor Heyerdahl Fred Olsen, the ethnographic park “Pyramids of Guimar” was created. Who, when, and most importantly, for what purpose built these pyramids on the island is still a mystery behind seven seals. According to Heyerdahl’s theory, they were built by the Guanches – the ancient inhabitants of Tenerife – many centuries ago for use in ceremonies and ceremonies associated with the cult of the Sun.
The next point of our tour on the island of Tenerife will be Candelaria, here are the key shrines of the Canary archipelago, such as the statue of the dark-faced Virgin of Candelar, the cathedral, and the statues of nine Aboriginal chieftains who inhabited Tenerife before Spanish colonization.
Duration is half a day.
