Gardens of Mar and Murtra

The botanical garden of Mar and Murtra is deservedly considered one of the most famous in Europe. This botanical garden was created for the future construction of an international center for scientific research. This garden on the Mediterranean coast now has over 3,000 plant species.

The garden space is divided into three zones: the Mediterranean, subtropics and temperate belt. In each of these spaces, plants corresponding to a particular area are planted, and various phytocoenoses of the five continents are represented. Currently, the botanical garden belongs to the Carl Faust Foundation, which is engaged in scientific research, conservation of endangered plant species, popularization of scientific knowledge. Some time ago, the Catalan government included it in the list of national cultural monuments.
