Tropical Garden of Pinha de Rosa

Cami de Santa Cristina sn, 17300 Blanes, Spain

Description:

The Botanical Tropical Garden of Piña de Rosa is spread over an area of about 50 hectares between the towns of Blanes and Lloret de Mar. On the territory of the garden is collected one of the most interesting and largest collections of cacti in Europe. More than 7000 species of exotic plants from different countries and continents grow here. Walking through the Piña de Rosa garden, you begin to understand how fantastic the results of many years of human efforts to transform the natural landscape and collect a unique botanical collection can be.

The origin of the Piña de Rosa Garden dates back to January 1945, when civil engineer Don Fernando Riviera Piña de Rosa bought the land and began to create his unusual garden. According to the plan of the Riviera, a special place in the new garden was to be given to cacti. To date, each plant presented in the botanical collection is unique in its own way. But the most close attention of representatives of the world scientific community is focused on the collection of prickles, which is represented here by 18 genera, uniting about 600 species of plants. All collections of tropical plants are systematized and constantly replenished: every year at least 1,500 species, both new and existing in the collection, are sown.
