Olite Castle
Ronda del Castillo, 31390 Olite, Spain
Description:
Olite Palace was built on the site of an ancient fortress in the XIII-XIV century and served as the residence of the royal court (the first king in the residence was Navarre Charles III Noble). Before its reconstruction and expansion, the castle served as a military structure. The castle acquired its current appearance in the twentieth century by the efforts of Jose and Javier Iarnosov.
Charles III and his wife Leonor generously rebuilt their palace, which at that time was included in the list of the most beautiful castles in Europe. The building includes the Old and New Palaces, as well as the Chapel of St. George. The old palace today is a hotel, and the main tourist attraction is the New Palace, in front of which is the Old Garden.
Inside the premises is luxurious and beautiful. One of the most beautiful halls is considered to be the hall, nicknamed the “Cave of Bats”.
By the way, a ten-meter well with snow was used to ensure that snow, that is, melted water for the garden, was enough until summer.
