Costa del Sol

Pre-Columbian Museum

Av Juan Luis Peralta, 49, City Hall, Benalmadena Pueblo, Costa del Sol, Spain

About the company:

The museum in the center of the resort town is the owner of a rare, exciting collection. Here are collected objects of life and art of pre-Columbian America, that is, the indigenous authentic culture of the peoples who inhabited America before its discovery by Columbus. The craftsmanship of ancient Mexicans, Peruvians, Costa Ricans, Ecuadorians, residents of Colombia and other countries is devoid of the influence of Europeans and is a unique object of culture. Objects that can be viewed in the museum are sensual, very unusual, beautiful and spiritualized by authenticity.

The museum was started by the famous cultural figure Felipe Orlando Garcia-Murciano, who transferred his own collection to Benalmadena and moved here himself.

The museum opened on May 5, 1970, was later closed for restoration, and since April 2005 it has been reopened to all comers.
