Museum of Religious Art in Riobamba

The ancient city of Riobamba, located just four hours south of Quito, is famous not only for its Indian bazaar, but also for the Museum of Religious Art, which presents a unique and remarkable collection of artistic masterpieces in the restored halls of the monastery.

The museum is located in the building of the monastery De Las Conceptas, which was built in the XVII century and was called Andoratorio - "Temple of the Sun". Here is stored a huge number of sculptures, paintings, furniture, silver and gold fabrics and jewelry XVII-XVIII centuries.
