Málaga

Antequera is the heart of Andalusia.

Description:

Antequera is located on one of the fertile plains in Spain at the foot of the El Torcal mountain range.

El Torkal is a unique nature reserve where you can walk for hours, admiring the fantastic landscapes and meeting on your way a lot of interesting things: mountain birds majestically hovering over the abyss, rare plants listed in the Red Book (for example, orchids), goats, deftly scurrying in the crevices of the mountains.

In the vicinity of the city, you should see the well-preserved evidence of the ancient history of this region - the three oldest dolmens in Europe: Menga, Viera and El Romeral. They date back to the 2nd millennium BC.

In the city itself, which is also called the “city of churches” (there are about 25 of them today), we recommend visiting Carmen Church, as well as the royal castle “Alcazaba” and the main Cathedral of Antequera (Real Colegiata de Santa Maria La Mayor).

In the vicinity of the city there is a unique wolf park. A few decades ago, a daredevil decided to bring the wolf back to his native penates. He succeeded.
