Excursion to the reserves of El Torcal, Antequera, and visit the lakes of Guadalorse (El Chorro)

Description:

An excursion to the reserves of El Torcal and El Chorro, which are located only 50 km north of Malaga, is a trip to the most beautiful places of the province of Malaga. Leaving the coast, we head to the town of Antekeru, surrounded by olive groves. The El Torcal Reserve is a mountain range with bizarre landscapes to the west of the city. There are two hiking routes, for an hour or half an hour, on which you can meet mountain goats if you are lucky. It was once a seafloor that turned into mountains as a result of tectonic shifts. The cleanest mountain air and amazing form of mountain formations make El Torcal unique in its kind.

Heading to Lake Guadallorse, we pass by the world’s only “Wolf Park”, where several wolf packs live in conditions as close as possible to natural ones. Our way lies further west, where the lakes of Guadalore are surrounded by pine forests. The purest turquoise water, stunning views, a restaurant with typical Spanish cuisine above the lake and the opportunity to swim from May to October - all these are the lakes of Guadalore, which are also called El Chorro, after the name of the village located here.

It is here that the so-called “Royal Road” is located – a concrete path attached to the rock, along which the King of Spain Alfonso XIII once passed. Returning to the coast, we pass the city of Alora, the citrus center of the province of Malaga.
